Our One Another Family

We are a family of Christians that assemble together regularly to encourage one another as we see the DAY drawing near (Heb 10:25) and to worship and serve the Lord in spirit and in truth (John 4:23-24).  We practice the ministry of one another Christianity, which draws us together in fellowship with one another and with our Lord Jesus Christ and our Father in Heaven (John 17:20-23).

Our family is part of the spiritual body of Christ and He is head over all things for the full benefit of His body—the church (Eph 1:22-23).  Under Christ, we are led by an eldership of men chosen by consent of the local congregation and appointed by evangelists under the guidance of the Holy Spirit (Titus 1:5; Acts 20:28; Acts 14:23).  Our only rule is the Bible—the inspired word of God—which is the all-sufficient authority of God for doctrine of the church and principles of Christian living (2 Tim 3:16-17; 2 Pet 1:3).

Our assemblies for worship and service comprise various activities by one another according to the New Testament pattern (Rom 15:14).   We teach and admonish one another as we lift up our voices together in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in our hearts to the Lord (Eph 5:19; Col 3:16).   We cease not to pray together with thankful hearts making our requests known unto God in faith (Phil 4:6).   We edify one another in study groups lead by men and women for various age groups as directed by the elders (1 Pet 5:2).   Bible lessons are proclaimed to the assembly by various male members for the admonition of the body and the edifying of itself in love (Eph 4:16).

On the first day of each week the focal point of our assembly is sharing the Lord’s Supper with one another (Acts 20:7).   We eat the bread and drink the fruit of the vine together in remembrance of our Lord Jesus and as a proclamation of His death on the cross until He comes (1 Cor 11:24-26).   Also, on the first day of the week members contribute funds as God has prospered them and as they have purposed in their hearts (1 Cor 16:2).  These funds are used to finance the various activities of the church.

As God’s children, we recognize our responsibility and privilege in Christ to glorify God (Eph 3:21); fulfilling His purpose for us (Rev 4:11).   God is glorified as we are edified by encouraging one another to work out our salvation (Phil 2:12) by never neglecting so great a gift (Heb 2:1-3) and remaining faithful until death (Rev 2:10) so that none will be left behind.  This is the essence of being members one of another in Christ (Rom 12:5).

We believe that the strength of our one another family is not being focused on any one individual’s efforts, talents or activities but on the combined mutual efforts, talents and activities of each member sharing their uniqueness for the edifying and strengthening of the whole body (Eph 4:11-16).

This approach to Christianity teaches us to love God and one another (Matt 22:37; John 15:12).  This is the abiding motivation (1 Cor 13:13) for our relationships as we mutually minister for the glory of our Lord at Riverside Road.  This love promotes devotion for one another (Rom 12:10) and allows consideration of others as more important than ourselves (Phil 2:3).  With this attitude, we are filled with joy (John 15:11) as we edify one another (Eph 4:16), encourage one another (Heb 3:13), comfort and counsel one another (1 Thess 5:11), serve one another (Gal 5:13) and bear one another’s burdens (Gal 6:2).

Mutual Christianity is a good vehicle for proclaiming to the world (John 17:22-23) the great salvation in Jesus Christ as the crucified Son of God (1 John 4:12-16).  Therefore, it is with meekness and reverence that the Riverside Road family reaches out through various ministries to the world; preaching the good news of Jesus Christ and His salvation (Mark 16:15-16).
